Recycled Toothbrushes?
Have you ever wondered how brushing your kids teeth could become more eco-friendly? Check out Preserve’s line of junior toothbrushes. The toothbrushes aren’t made of all recycled materials but the handles sure are! The colorful handles are easy for little ones to hold onto and they’re made of 100% recycled plastic. Even better, the toothbrush itself is recyclable when it’s been all used up. Preserve includes a postage paid label so that you can send it back to them to be recycled!

The toothbrushes are BPA free, made in the U.S.A., recyclable and made of recycled content. But wait…that’s not all! Preserve partners with the National Wildlife Federation to highlight different animals with the toothbrushes. Preserve is also a proud supporter of the Wildlife Federation. Right now they’re featuring Tigers (orange), St. Lucia Parrots (pink) and Galapagos Island Turtles (green). The reusable packaging highlights different animal facts so that kids can learn about different animals while brushing their teeth and saving the planet. Talk about multi-functioning!
I thought that these toothbrushes would be a lot more expensive than their comparables but they’re only $2.79 for one or $11 for four. Guess what Santa’s bringing to my kid’s stockings this year? I love products like this that you can stand behind.
Is It a Wine Box or Is It a Table?

The truth is that it’s both a wine box and a table. This ridiculously functional box is used to transport the wine from the winery to the store to the home. At the home, it can be used as a table with or without the wine inside. At my house the wine inside wouldn’t last too long!
The box is made completely out of recycled cardboard. It’s easy to transport with the big handles on the side, multifunctional table and transportation box and completely recyclable at the end of it’s use because it’s made entirely out of cardboard. You can even get custom table tops for it or you could easily DIY a custom table top with some old magazines and decoupage.
This comes with your choice of wines inside from a shop called design4wine.nl. The site is neat although entirely in Dutch. You can choose which assortment of wine you’d like to order, contact the supplier or see more pics of the awesomely sustainable interior design meets packaging on their site. The product itself was designed by Link Design Amsterdam. This site is also entirely in Dutch and features a variety of their design projects, some of which are pretty cool!
This is the kind of packaging that needs to be worked on more by innovative designers and eco-conscious manufacturer’s. These wine box tables fit together like lego bricks to ensure that they stack well together. They function incredibly both as shipping boxes and as tables for use in the home. I’m super stoked to see even more product packaging like this in the future!
Underwater Environment

Diving has always been an adventure that I’ve longed to try. The underwater environment is as fragile as (or perhaps more than) the land we live on. It’s just that it’s harder to see and more of a mystery to those of us who do not go diving. Much of the underwater world has yet to be explored. There are species of plants and animals that have yet to be discovered. It is this unknown factor that lures many to want to try scuba diving.
Scuba diving is an adventure that does require some training and equipment. Although you’d be surprised how cheap scuba gear can be purchased. There is quite a few pieces of equipment that is needed including a snorkel, fins, mask, snorkel, scuba tank, diving suit, a weight system, buoyancy compensator, regulator, a knife and scuba computer. This is why it’s best to shop around to try to get the best discounted prices that you can find on quality pieces.
When you hit the water and discover an entire underwater world, you’ll realize that the price was worth it. You’ll discover a whole new environment that you’ll want to protect and learn about. Our seas and oceans cover much of the earth and make the planet habitable for human kind. The underwater eco-system plays a big role in the health of our entire planet. I cannot wait to discover it on my next vacation!!

Scotties Envirocare Tissues

Scotties has officially released the first premium quality tissue in Canada that is made of 100% recycled fibres. The line is called Envirocare and is certified by EcoLogo to be an environmentally friendly choice. I’ve talked before of using recycled fibre toliet paper and the issue here is exactly the same. Why would manufacturer’s cut down trees to make “virgin” tissues? It doesn’t even make any sense!!
These tissues are definitely a better option than other tissues and are a “green-er” choice. I’m sure that some would argue that a reusable, washable tissue would be a better option. Yes, it would. However, some people are just not willing to go there. The point is to make greener choices for a greener future. Baby steps are easier to take than giant leaps. If people just start talking those tiny steps to an eco-friendly lifestyle they will add up and make a difference!
On another note, the packaging for these is completely recyclable. The box also contains 10% more sheets than the regular box of Scotties tissues so this option also ensures less packaging waste.
The package itself has some eco-friendly themes to it as well with birds, two varieties of flowers and pieces of wool arranged like waves. Sometimes Kleenex boxes are so ugly that they stick out like a sore thumb. These ones are much better and you can tell that some thought was put into them. My fav is the bird pattern. It’s super cute, neutral and would fit into almost any decor without looking out of place.
Natural Methods of Coping with Infertility

Infertility is a very common issue. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have calculated that at least 7 million women in the United States alone have difficulty conceiving. Of these, 2 million have been labelled as infertile. The label “infertile” itself is given after a couple has been having unprotected sex for 12 months without conceiving.
Billions of dollars are spent by couples trying to conceive. There are hormone therapies, drugs to boost egg production, surgical methods such as invitro all done with the hopes of creating a baby. The effects of all of these treatments on the human body as well as the planet are immeasurable. Yes, drugs and different treatments are sometimes completely necessary for a couple to conceive. However, sometimes these treatments can be avoided or supplemented by more natural methods.
There are a number of great websites out there that describe methods of natural fertility. There are a wide range of more natural options to boost fertility or your chances of conceiving (and maintaining) a pregnancy conceived through in vitro or other traditional methods of medically assisted conception. If you are researching methods of how to increase your chances of fertility through natural methods, the website Natural Baby Pros is an absolute must read. They cover a huge range of natural choices with articles from professionals in all of the different areas. There is even a forum to discuss your options and ask questions.
They cover natural fertility methods including: aromtherapy, EFT, healing touch, herbology, nutrition, chiropractic, yoga, pilates, naturaopathy, homeopathy, accupuncture and more. These natural methods of increasing fertility look at the body as a whole being while the medical methods only treat a symptom. All of a body’s systems work together to create a whole — a combination of mind, body and spirit. Logically then, treating only one symptom will not help to resolve a more general imbalance. It’s best to consider all of your options when trying to conceive and there are certainly lots of options available to you from natural or alternative medicine professionals.
