Recently, a representative of CSN contacted me about doing a product review for them.  They literally let me choose from any of their over 200 websites to find a product to review.  Sooo many possibilites!  I ended up choosing an item from their Cookware site.  I really love this site because it has a button on the main page to help you pick eco-friendly items.  You just push “Go Green” and you end up with a list of hundreds of environmentally conscious products to pick from all nicely sorted by category.  Very, very cool!

I ended up choosing some really unique cookie cutters from a company called Nordic Ware which my daughter is so cheesily posing with above.  The company has won several green recognition awards for their efforts in recycling, reducing consumption, reusing water, reducing waste and removing heavy metals from their products.  They also are involved in donating useful products that are obsolete or “seconds” instead of simply tossing them away like many big companies do.  They’ve even got energy star appliances, eco-friendly lights in the factory and use green methods of heating!  Definitely my kind of company.

3dcookiecutters 3D Cookie Cutters Product ReviewThe cookie cutter set consisted of 18 pieces to make 6 different designs of cookies — a unicorn, plane, sailboat, dinosaur, teddy bear and dolphin.  Each cookie has separate pieces to make them stand up to give them their 3D shape.  They really turn out to look quite impressive when they are completed.  Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to capture any of our own cookies completed because they don’t last long enough to ice them! lol  A toddler and a teenager can really make cookies disappear quickly!

It was a little tricky to get the cookies to the right thickness so that they stood up properly with all of the cookies fitting together but once youdid, they were awesome.  Definitely Martha Stewart-esque results.  There’s even a delicious, easy to make, hard to wreck sugar cookie recipe on the box.

My daughter and I have had a blast making these cookies several times now and we’re getting the hang of it.  The cutters are easy to wash, durable and come from a sustainable business.  Everything that a green cook could want!
