Lip Gloss Fights Aids Battle

The Body Shop has long been one of my favourite beauty supply stores.  They engage in fair trade business practices, use recycled products and sustainable production techniques in many occassions.  I especially like that you can refill their bottles just by bringing them into the store.  They were definitely on the forefront of environmental awareness in Canadian business even ten years ago.

I thought that this was a pretty cool promotion.  Buy lip gloss and support safe sex!  The Body Shop has partnered with MTV to help promote the use of condoms.  Their eye catching Yes, Yes, Yes! slogan helps draw the eye to the dragonfruit lip butter.  Yes to safe sex and yes to moisturized lips.  Weird combination?  Whatever — lol.

$5 of every $8 sale goes to the Staying Alive Foundation which promotes HIV and Aids awareness and prevention techniques to youths around the world.  I wonder if condoms are biodegradable and environmentally friendly…hmmmm.
